Of the seven years spent in Scandinavia, the first two spent in Malmö Sweden as assistant to Elsa von Rosen opened my eyes to the Scandinavian way of life, its music and its culture.
By her side I discovered the Bournonville school :
Faust |
Elsa-Marianne von Rosen |
Johannesnatten |
Elsa-Marianne von Rosen |
Romeo & Julia |
Elsa-Marianne von Rosen |
Swan Lake |
Elsa-Marianne von Rosen |
Aurora's Wedding |
Mary Skeaping |
Coppelia |
Hans Breenaa |
Elsa-Marianne and her husband the designer Allan Fridericia became good friends. Regularly I would watch the performances of the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen and stay with them.
The “iron-butterfly” as she was known fighting for dance in Scandinavia, she also gave me the opportunity to do my first choreography : Delibes Suite during a workshop.
After two years the theatre was closed for six months for renovation.
As I did not feel like giving class to a company without performances for so long, I left for a touring company the Ballet de France in 1986.
